She has divulged the news that she decided to have a double mastectomy in order to protect herself (and her family) from the estimated 87% risk of her developing breast cancer due to a faulty gene.
Of course, she could probably have kept this quiet, but says she has gone public in order to reassure other women.
I’ve never really been a fan, if I’m honest, but in an industry obsessed by appearance, being this candid about something so personal seems to me an admirable choice.
